Dr. Ian MacKenzie Farnham, or Dr. MacK as he is known by his patients, was born into a family of dentists. His mom and dad started Farnham Dentistry in 1983 in Mandarin in Jacksonville, FL. Growing up around the practice of dentistry, he witnessed firsthand the satisfaction his parents received from helping people with their dental needs as well as the happiness they were able to provide to their patients. It was no surprise when he decided to follow in their footsteps.
Dr. MacK graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in integrative biology from the University of Florida. He continued to earn his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland where he graduated with the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Community Service. Additionally he completed an extra year of training at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center earning a General Practice Residency degree. He is currently a member of the Northeast Florida Dental Society, the Florida Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.
Dr. MacK has a passion for community service. He has been volunteering his time throughout Central and South America since high school. Following his first year of dental school, he spent six weeks in rural Nicaragua developing and implementing oral hygiene instruction for children as an ambassador with the Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children. Since graduating from dental school he has been deeply involved with the Leland Dental Charity providing oral hygiene instruction for children and acute dental care for the people of rural El Salvador. Dr. MacK volunteers his time locally by practicing dentistry for the Sulzbacher Center here in Jacksonville, FL. He also participates in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry’s “Give Back a Smile” program which aims to restore the smiles and lives of adults who’ve suffered dental injuries from domestic violence, through compassionate cosmetic dental services.
Picking up where his parents left off, Dr. MacK looks forward to continue offering the highest-quality comprehensive dental care within his community. He enjoys using his training to help patients with dental phobias or anxieties experience a relaxing and pleasant visit to the dentist. Dr. MacK focuses his practice on creating an easy, stress-free, and patient-focused experience in an inviting family atmosphere. Ultimately, Dr. MacK’s goal is to treat generations of Jacksonville families, from grandkids to grandparents.
Outside of the Office
Dr. MacK loves the outdoors. From fishing to surfing and from soccer to mountain biking, he enjoys staying active. One thing is for sure, his black lab, Nugget, is never too far behind. As a certified therapy dog she even comes to the office twice a week!
